UAV capstone design — RPI

Led design and analysis of a fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle for the RPI capstone. Built the airframe model in Siemens NX, ran structural studies in Simcenter, and evaluated aerodynamic performance in FlightStream.

Solar concentrator heat sink

Designed a finned aluminum heat sink for the PV strip of a luminescent solar concentrator. Modeled the fin-array thermal resistance network, then iterated fin count, thickness, and length to hold the cell at 33.5 °C — under the 35 °C limit — with natural convection in under 1 cm of height.

Reaction-wheel inverted pendulum

Modeled and stabilized “The Nacho Supreme,” a reaction-wheel inverted pendulum, in MATLAB/Simulink. Identified the motor, pendulum, and IMU dynamics — the IMU proved to be a dynamic filter, not a unity gain — then tuned a PID controller to a 0.41 s settling time with 7.2% overshoot.

Scratch-building a sub-250 g quad around an H743 flight controller running ArduPilot, with an ExpressLRS control link, analog FPV video, and a hand-built 2S Li-ion battery pack.

Python scripts against the Fusion 360 API that generate ready-to-print parts from a handful of dimensions — such as counterbored mounting plates. Enter the parameters, get the model.

Residential 240 V circuit

Designed and installed a dedicated 240 V hot-tub circuit: GFCI protection and code-compliant underground wiring, completed under budget and in full compliance with electrical code.

2019 Corolla systems integration

Designed and installed aftermarket systems end to end: remote start, heated seats and steering wheel, CarPlay head-unit retrofit, subwoofer audio, hardwired dash cam and radar detector, and automated window control.
